RULES AND REGULATIONS

Please read these rules carefully before filling out the entry form.
KEEP A COPY OF THEM so that you may refer to them for any questions that may come up during the Award year.

Objectives:
Reviewed 10/10/05
1. While the club's mission is primarily educational, it wishes to provide encouragement for members and horses learning show ring skills and arena training as preparation for their further development in nationally sanctioned shows.
2. To provide recognition for participation and achievement in as large a segment of the membership as possible by recognizing dressage skills among equines and members with experience at various levels.

Definitions:
1. All combinations are of horse and rider.
2. All riders must be members of The Dressage Company.
3. A rider may be eligible on more than one horse and a horse may be eligible for more than one rider.
4. A horse is eligible for any number of levels during a year.
5. There is a $ 15.00 registration fee for each horse/rider combination per division per year.
6. Levels are those of the dressage level tests.
7. Registration must be accomplished prior to the show in which scores are to be obtained. Any scores from shows before this date are ineligible and will not be accepted. No test scores will be accepted prior to the postmark on the envelope containing the paid entry, or prior to the date the entry with payment is handed directly to the Year End Awards Chairperson, or a Dressage Company board member.
8. The Division must be specified at the time of registration. Changes in divisions will be accepted for a $5.00 service fee. Test scores prior to the date of change will not be eligible and will not be accepted. To add an additional division, a separate registration is required at $15.00 per division, and only scores earned after registration for the added division(s) may be used.
9. A novice horse is a horse showing its first year at any level. A novice rider is a rider showing his/her first year at the Introductory Level Only.
10. Beyond the first year at a level, all horses and riders are considered in the OPEN category at the specified level.
11. The following Divisions will be offered (see below for how they are combined with levels):

• Novice Rider: Introductory Level only
• Novice Horse All levels, first year only
• Open Introductory through FEI
• (Introductory Level may be won one year, then the horse/rider combination must move up to be considered for year end awards)
• Freestyle Training and above
• Junior Rider: any rider 18 years of age or younger. Introductory through FEI can be used. Test scores for this award may not be submitted for any other division.

12. The Year End Chairperson is the person responsible for recording and tabulating Year End points. Final placings will be by the Year End Committee.
13. One score from each show for each division may be submitted. Any test from the division/level may be submitted. A score can only be used once.
14. Any show may be used as long as it is judged by a qualified Dressage Judge.
15. Any number of scores may be entered, but only the top three (3) scores will count toward year-end placing. The average of the top three scores submitted from three different judges will determine final placing for Awards. A rider submitting at least three scores per division will have priority placement over a rider submitting fewer than three scores per division.
16. To document test scores with the Year End Chairperson, each participant in the program is required to send a copy of the front of the test with the name of the show and its date to the chairperson PRIOR TO OCTOBER 31st.
17. Ties will be placed as ties and not broken.

1) The same horse/rider combination must show at a minimum of 5 shows at 3 different member locations. You MUST mark that you want your scores to count on ALL your entry forms. The quality of the Year End Awards depends on the total number of QCDC rides for the year. An unmarked entry form affects the individual entrant as well as the awards for that year. PARTICIPATION STARTS WHEN QCDC IS MARKED ON ENTRY FORM REGARDLESS OF PLACING.

2) Each participating QCDC show pays QCDC for each marked entry per ride in Classes 1-17. This money goes toward year end awards. You must mark EACH show entry form for your scores from the shows to count. This is the entrant's responsibility! A charge of $15 will be assessed of any entrant who did not mark his entry form: the fee is $15 per show per occurrence.

3) Each horse/rider combination may only show at 2 adjacent levels at one show.
4) Each horse/rider combination may accumulate points in up to 4 levels in any given year.
5) Training level musical freestyle is recognized only by the QCDC. If there are sufficient entries, a Training Level QCDC MFS award will ge given. High score % is the highest % score/level/division at the end of the year. Webmistress question: is the QCDC unique recognition still true, given TDC Division for "Open Training Level Musical Freestyle?" Stay tuned for the official answer... and be sure to keep your test sheets!
6) Points for QCDC Year End Awards are accumulated from scores in classes 1-16 only.
